September 24th, 2008 by Ron Callahan View Comments

Look was proud to talk about their 2009 line. I spoke to Steve Sperling, a mechanic for the Tibco team, which is sponsored by Look.

We first discussed the new 596 TT bike. This bike is 2 pounds lighter than its predecessor and features the new Keo Zed crank, which offers and incredible amount of stiffness to weight.

Next up was the 595 road bike. The 595 is Look’s top of the line race bike and was used this season by the Credit Agricole team. It features tube and lug construction along with an integrated seat post. Steve noted that the focus for this bike was not on absolute stiffness to weight, but rather on providing the best overall ride for the professional cyclist.

He also talked about the bike’s integrated seatpost and how it further allows them to completely tune the ride of the bike. As would be expected, the range of stiffness in commercially available seatposts is wide, and the bike would ride in a completely different fashion with a flexy post.

The 586 is their top of the line monocoque model. Once again, it is designed around providing the best overall ride. It uses the same HSC6 fork as the 595 and also features an integrated seatpost. This particular model also included Look’s Headfit system, which, while still an integrated design, allows the rider to set and forget their headset adjustment while still being able to remove the stem for travel.

The 566 is Look’s new entry level road bike. The frame and fork weigh 1100 grams and the entire bike comes in for around $3100 with an Ultegra level kit. Once again, the focus is on a comfortable ride, and this is said to the the bike for the aggressive century rider.
