Interbike Vendor Spotlight: Aerocat

September 26th, 2008 by Ron Callahan View Comments

Aerocat is a relatively new bicycle manufacturer based fairly close to me in Portland, Indiana. They launched the company last year at Interbike with a focus on road bikes and have added time trial and mountain bikes this year.

We first looked at the Aerocat R350. The R350 is a performance oriented aluminum frame with a carbon fiber fork. It’s their entry level bike and can be purchased with a SRAM Rival build kit for around $1849. The frame can also be spec’ed with SRAM Force, Shimano Ultegra and Campagnolo Veloce. The base wheels are the reliable Reynolds Solutude hoops, but other wheels from Easton and Mavic can also be part of the build.

Next up was the Aerocat R500. The R500 features carbon monocoque construction and a full carbon steer tube. The R500 is in the middle of their road line and comes in around $2800 with Rival. Once again, the Force group is available as well as Shimano Ultegra, Dura Ace, Campagnolo Chorus and Record. The standard build package once again includes the Solitude wheels, but Zipps can be specified in addition to Mavic.

Aerocat currently sponsors two cycling teams: The Aerocat team out of Atlanta, Georgia and the Lindsey Wilson College (Kentucky) team.

Aerocat bikes can be found at dealers now, and the company may be exploring a web sales model this year. For more information, including a look at their top end R750 road bike as well as their triathlon and mountain bikes, go to http://www.aerocatbike.com
