Mavic Makes Cyclocross Conversion Easier
I recently completed converting my old mountain bike to a pseudo cyclocross bike. The eight speed Grip Shift system was replaced with Ultegra bar end shifters, the brakes went from v-brakes to cantis, the very heavy dirt jumping fork was replaced with a very nice carbon fiber mountain fork and more. The one thing that kept me from going full ‘cross was the wheels. The reach of the cantilevers would not allow the use of 700C wheels.
Now, I come across an article on Dirt Rag’s blog about a product from Mavic called their caliper adjusters. This is basically an expander that allow the use of 700c wheels on a 26 inch wheeled mountain bike.
You can read the full article by clicking here or on the picture above.
You might have to do a little digging to find them online, but I’m sure that any local dealer that carries Mavic wheels should be able to get them.
