A “Hors Category” Bianchi bike for Team Barloworld riders
Team Barloworld will ride Bianchi bikes for a second consecutive season in 2009 and work closely on bike development with the legendary Italian company to help it retain its position as one of the historic leaders in the bike industry.
The Team Barloworld riders will ride the Bianchi 928 Carbon SL this season, which is part of the Hors Category HoC range. It offers a perfect balance between light weight and performance and so is ideal for the demands of professional racing.
Bob Ippolito, Bianchi Chief Executive Officer, and Product Manager Lars Svalin are extremely proud of the 928 Carbon SL model. “We think the 928 Carbon SL is something special, it’s light weight means it’s ideal for long climbs but also strong enough for intense racing. That’s why we think it’s the perfect bike for a professional team like Team Barloworld and especially for a super climber like Mauricio Soler“, Lars Svalin said.
Bob Ippolito added: “The 928 Carbon SL will allow Soler to fully utilise his power. I’m sure he’ll do us all proud during 2009″.
Team Manager Claudio Corti is very happy with the equipment selected for 2009. “Yet again the riders are going to have the best possible bikes. The Bianchi frames combine the lightness a climber like Soler needs for the mountains with the rigidity required by a sprinter like Robert Hunter . The excellent time trial bikes will also be vital for the individual and team time trials we’re targeting during the season,” Corti said.
The 928 Carbon SL is a carbon fibre monocoque frame made with unidirectional carbon fibre. It is extremely light, weighing just 900grammes for mid-range sized frame. It is extremely responsive without any compromise in performance. The quality of the frame have been improved thanks to the use of nano technology, with nano particles filling the spaces between the carbon fibres and so increasing the resistance and rigidity of the frame.
