Superweek Pro Tour/Point Premium Root Beer International Cycling Classic to celebrate 41st year

, – February 23rd , 2009 – Organizers of the / SuperWeek Pro Tour announce The Elgin Cycling Classic to be held Sunday July 12th, 2009.

In 2000, the Elgin Road Course obtained instant international attention as a show case for U-23 racers. Champions like (USA) and (CAN) both established important victories on this great road course. The Elgin Road Course will be available to all rider categories.

After a six year hiatus the City of Elgin in cooperation with SuperWeek is proud to present a new “Elgin Cycling Classic” featuring the course that riders love, passing historic homes, following the Fox River and finishing on the main boulevard of Elgin. This will be an all day huge event that cyclists, spectators, and residents will really enjoy.

In recognition of the U-23 roots the City of Elgin will present a separate trophy and prize to the top U-23 riders in the Pro field.

“We are truly excited to have the great City of Elgin with a rich history and this famous road course in our line up for 2009.” said Marketing Director Michael Garrison.

“Cyclists, spectators, and residents will have everything they deserve, with riders from all over the country and world. We expect an international war waged on bicycles.” said Director of Operations, Andy Garrison.

“The Elgin Course will be a great experience for riders, with the ability to do a road course in the city is awesome. I will give the riders a  great hard race.” said Founder and ICC Race Director, Otto Wenz.

The Point Premium Root Beer International Cycling Classic attracts top riders from across the and more than twenty foreign countries to compete in the longest-running multi-day bicycle race in the . The 41st annual event will take place from July 9th-26th, 2009 with races throughout Eastern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois. About Stevens Point Brewery:
