33rd Giro del Trentino will offer a preview of the Giro d’Italia
The 33rd edition of the Giro del Trentino will offer cycling fans a preview of the mountains and the challenges of May’s Giro d’Italia.
The race, scheduled for April 22-25 will feature four stages.
The inaugural stage, an individual time trial, will take the riders over a technical course from Torbole to Arco featuring 52 curves.
For the second stage the bunch will move from Riva del Garda to Pampeago.
The third stage will be the only one outside national borders, in East Tyrol.
The last stage will start from Sillian and then it will be back in Trentino, at Pejo Fonti.
Despite its innovative and international look, the race doesn’t loose its traditional values. The organizers have instituted two special trophies – one to celebrate Pantani’s win in Pampeago during 1999 Giro d’Italia and another for the first winner of Giro del Trentino, Enzo Moser, who recently died.
Organizers were pleased to announce that the race is in good financial health due to the support of local institutions and businesses. Ivan Basso and Gilberto Simoni are expected to appear.
