Circuit de la Sarthe – Stage 5/Final Results

After a very lively 5th stage between Pré-en-Pail and Le Mans, ’s , the leader of the race the past two days, has maintained his position over his opponents to win the 57th . Le Laystayed 17 seconds ahead of his two pursuers  – Italian Enrico Rossi (2nd, Ceramica Flaminia) and the French Benoît Vaugrenard (3rd, Française des Jeux). This is his second stage race win of the season after his success with the Three Days of Vaucluse.

The stage win went to (), who was part of a breakaway with German Tony Martin (Colombia), Franck Bouyer (Bbox Bouygues Telecom), Jérôme Coppel (Française des Jeux) and Sébastien Duret (Bretagne Schuller) that stayed off of the front until the final circuit of the race course.

Only Demaret and Martin were able to stay away, but Martin punctured in the final kilometers. Demaret rode solo and resisted the oncoming peloton.
