Tour of America’s Dairyland Stage 2 Report: Trek Waterloo Classic

After attacking the massive hills of the Blue Mounds Race of the Future presented by on Thursday, Stage 2 of the Tour of America’s Dairyland presented by Milk Marketing Board took to the downtown streets of Waterloo for the Waterloo Classic on Friday. Bicycle was the most hospitable of hosts, enticing racers with incredible primes and continuing to show their unrivaled passion for the sport of and commitment to the riders.

Storm clouds once again threatened throughout the day but in the end it was the racers who dominated.

Jessie Maclean nabbed the top spot on the Pro Women’s Podium, edging out Kristin Wentworth (Team Kenda) and Toni Bradshaw (Team Lip Smacker), whose teammate Amanda Miller stood highest on the podium at Blue Mounds. Maclean and Devon Haskell (BH USA) are tied for the Overall Leader title after Stage 2 ahead of Miller and Kristin Wentworth (Team Kenda) by the narrowest of margins.

The Men’s Pro Race came down to the final lap with Jake Keough (), Aldo Ilesic () and Chad Hartley (Team GEARGRINDER) ultimately claiming first, second and third, respectively. The coveted yellow and white leader’s jersey flipped, albeit by a slim margin, from Matthew Busche (Noa ISCorp), who led the Pro Men at Thursday Blue Mounds Race of the Future, to Steve Tilford (Trek).

Impressive start fields for the Cat 3, Cat 4-5, Masters 1-2-3 and Masters 4-5 as well, whose respective podium toppers were Julio Padilla (Sideporte), Ben-Jamin Widoff (Team Power Bar), James Moore (River Valley Cycling Club) and Jay Robertson (FCS/McDonalds).

The Tour continues Saturday with the Giro d Grafton, a , in Grafton, Wis, and the Maritime Bay Classic in Manitowoc, WIs, on Sunday.

Also included in the Tour are the Wisconsin cities of Grafton, Manitowoc, Fond du Lac, Sheboygan, Greenbush, Waukesha and Milwaukee. The Downer Classic on Milwaukee’s Eastside will feature the Ben’s Cycle “Ultra Prime Party”. In addition to high energy cycling, the cities will also feature a variety of live entertainment, family activities, food, and a sports expo produced by Racers Against Childhood Cancer (RACC).
