LOOK Announces Partnership with Alberto Contador
LOOK, the innovation leader in clipless pedals and carbon fiber frames, is pleased to announce that the company has entered into an agreement with legendary cyclist and 2007 Tour de France champion, Alberto Contador, in the final week leading up to the 2009 Tour. Contador will be riding on the soon to be released LOOK KéO 2 MAX pedal in this year’s Tour. In addition to competing on the LOOK KéO 2 MAX, Contador will be featured in an upcoming ad campaign for the pedal, slated to run in Europe and the United States starting in July 2009.
“For me, there is no other choice than LOOK pedals. I have been using their pedals for years and as far as I am concerned, when you have the best, why change?,” says Contador. “With the LOOK KéO 2 MAX, your power is not wasted. It is transmitted directly to the bike for maximum efficiency.”
Contador took the world by storm at the 2007 Tour de France. At the start of the race, he was considered a favorite for the Best Young Rider prize. But days into the race, his brilliance as a climber combined with smart racing demonstrated that he had the skill and the determination to take the yellow jersey. On July 29, 2007, the jersey was his, making him one of the youngest winners of the Tour de France at the age of 24.
“Alberto’s skill is legendary, especially at such an early stage in his career,” says Eric Vanhaverbeke, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for LOOK Cycle International. “After watching Alberto compete and win on LOOK pedals for years, we are thrilled to make this partnership official.”
About the LOOK KéO 2 MAX:
- Increased efficiency and comfort thanks to a more resistant INOX stainless steel contact surface area. The pedal platform is 12% larger with respect to the KéO Carbon.
- Extremely light – 120g for Carbon and 125g for Composite.
- Dual seals, a carbon injected pedal body, INOX stainless steel contact surface, and an oversize axle make this pedal very reliable and durable.
- KéO grip cleats provide walking confidence with built in rubber contacts.
