Gert Steegmans will join Armstrong, Leipheimer at Radio Shack

2008 Tour de France - Stage Twenty One

The announcement did not come until overnight, but Johan Bruyneel confirmed early this morning that former Katusha rider Gert Steegmans will be joining Lance Armstrong and the Radio Shack Cycling Team for 2010.

Steegmans had been embroiled in a contract dispute with Katusha for some time over an anti-doping contract clause. When we last reported on Steegmans, Katusha had retained a lawyer to try and hold him to his contract, but since the formal annoucement has been made, I’m guessing that matter has been cleared up.

Steegman’s compatriot Sebastien Rosseler (Quick Step) has also been linked with the Radio Shack squad, but a formal announcement has not been made.
