Silence-Lotto becomes Omega Pharma-Lotto

October 1st, 2009 by Al Fresco View Comments

2008 Tour de France - Rest Day

Although surprises were promised at today’s press conference, this is the biggest news we’ve heard out of it. Cadel Evans and Phillipe Gilbert are expected to remain as team leaders.

In 2010, the Silence-Lotto team will undergo a name change and will be known as Omega Pharma-Lotto. This more of a branding change than anything as Omega Pharma is the manufacturer of Silence.

This is the third name change for the team that originally came on the scene in 2005 and 2006 as Davitamon-Lotto. The team name changed to Predictor-Lotto in 2007 and changed to Silence-Lotto in mid-2008.

The team colors are expected to change, but that is still under discussion with the National Lottery co-sponsor.
