Bruyneel negotiates exit from Astana
Johan Bruyneel has successfully negotiated his exit from Astana and is free to run the Radio Shack team in 2010.
Astana announced today that they have reached an agreement with Yvon Sanquer to manage Team Astana in 2010. The Frenchman, who led the Mutuelle de Seine et Marne team in the mid 90s and Festina from 1999 to 2001 reached agreement yesterday with Kazakh leaders to replace Johan Bruyneel.
Alberto Contador met his new boss during Wednesday’s 2010 Tour de France route presentation.
The announcement likely causes a sigh of relief at both Astana and Radio Shack as this helps to solidify team structure – a necessary prerequisite for a Pro Tour license.
There is no word if Bruyneel was able to secure the release of Andreas Kloden, Gregory Rast and Haimar Zubeldia as well.
