Clarification/Update: Right day, wrong month. The UCI is evaluating Astana’s application and will announce whether the team has met their requirements by November 20th, not the 20th of October.

Alberto Contador should have some clarity about his future by sometime on Tuesday. The UCI has indicated that they will announce whether the team has met the necessary requirements for a Pro Tour license today.

If Astana is denied the sport’s highest status, Caisse d’Epargne, Garmin and Quick-Step have all offered a position to the 2009 Tour de France winner. Quick Step has even gone so far as to offer 4 additional riders of Contador’s choice if he joins their team.

If Astana does get their Pro Tour license, the team, which has been largely decimated by Lance Armstrong and his Radio Shack Cycling squad, will be built around Contador with the goal of a repeat win at the Tour de France.

The team does not seem to be waiting to learn of their fate, however, announcing the signings of Paulo Tiralongo, Enrico Gasparotto, Giuseppe Martinelli and Guido Martinelli within the past couple of days.
