Interbike Vendor Spotlight: Prologo
I was happy to see Prologo with a big showing at Interbike as I think that their products are not well represented in the U.S. They’re featuring five saddles for 2010:
Scratch Pro:
The Scratch Pro is the most popular saddle in the Prologo lineup. Chosen by Robbie McEwen and 53% of the Pros sponsored by Prologo, the Scratch Pro offers an unbeatable combination of value, comfort and performance. Traditional domed profile creates a cantered platform appropriate for narrower sits bones while still supporting the muscles of the gluteus and hamstrings.
- Active Density (AD) padding is a saddle construction technique patented by Prologo. AD padding varies in density and thickness over 3 zones of the saddle optimizing comfort and support. The front zone of the saddle, designed for absolute comfort in an aero position, is padded with very low density, soft 40% foam. The central zone, key to reducing pressure on the perineal area, features medium density 50% foam. The back zone or seating area supports the ischial tuberosities and gluteus muscles. The back zone is padded with firm and comfortable 60% foam.
- Carbon Fiber Injection Base is a constructed out of composite fortified with 16% carbon fiber, resulting in an exceptionally light and durable base.
- Available with either Pro Ti 1.4 Nickel-Titanium alloy rails
- Weight: 211gr
- Use: Road
- MSRP: $149.99
C.ONE50 (race saddle for the serious athlete):
C.ONE50 increases the comfort of the C.ONE30 by adding a thin cover of padding and ultra-lightweight Rootex leather. C.ONE50 is designed for the sophisticated cyclist who prefers a traditional domed shape and requires the lightest possible equipment.
- Traditional domed profile creates a cantered platform appropriate for narrower sits bones while still supporting the muscles of the gluteus and hamstrings.
- For Comfort the C.ONE50 features a thin layer of Super Light Foam 60% that keeps weight to a minimum while increasing comfort.
- Rootex cover is constructed of a new natural leather which, because of its extreme elasticity, is 20% lighter than other leathers commonly used today.
- Weight: 154gr
- MSRP: $329.99
Choice (modular saddle design):
The Choice collection re-invents saddles as a revolutionary modular system patented by Prologo, giving YOU the choice of padding, color and accessories. The Choice Max is the favorite saddle of team AG2R.
- C-Lock is an exclusive system developed by Prologo. The rider can snap the upper off of the saddle base so as to quickly and easily change to a gel pad for a long day in the saddles, switch colors, or replace a scratched upper after a crash.
- Ultralight PU Double Skin saddle upper is manufactured using an ultra light microfiber that guarantees a weight savings of approximately 20% as well as a memory effect of 25% compared to ordinary foams. The result is a covers offer lower weight while still providing excellent comfort and durability.
- Twin Gel, featured in the Choice Max Gel, consists of a sandwiched gel structure: two gel layers surrounding a shock absorbing material. This unique construction technique results in superior comfort, shock absorption and light weight.
- C-Air, another exclusive patent of the Choice Line, consists of 16 large cooling vents in the base and cover.
- Polyamide HIS FR 14 HIS (High Impact Strength) saddle base is a polyamide, (14%) carbon fiber reinforced shell with remarkable fatigue resistance and torque rigidity. The result is a stable, light and durable saddle base.
- Pro Ti 1.4 Nickel-Titanium alloy rails with 1.4mm wall thickness.
- Weight: 234gr
- Use: Road-XC
- MSRP: $149.99
NAGO EVO (Time Trial saddle):
Developed to the specifications of famously exacting Time Trial Olympic gold medalist Fabian Cancellara, the TTR is a ground-up reimagining of a cycling saddle from the exclusive vantage point of the best Time Trialist in the world.
Using the semi-domed profile of the Nago Evo as a starting point, the Nago Evo TTR TS is designed to support the pelvis while tilted forward in an aggressive aero position. The moderate cantering of the semi-round rear of the saddle supports medium-width sits bones and the noticeably softer and more padded nose of the saddle increases comfort in a low aero position. The length of the nose of the saddle has been reduced to facilitate a more forward position while still adhering to UCI guidelines for setback.
- Slide Control, a proprietary Prologo technology, consists of urethane inserts bonded to the cover that prevent the cyclist from sliding forward towards the aerobars and increases control of the bike.
- Carbon Fiber Injection Base is a constructed out of composite fortified with 18% carbon fiber, resulting in an exceptionally light and durable base with excellent torsional rigidity. The base is relieved in the nose to increase give, complimenting the thick, soft padding of the TTR upper.
- Pro Ti Solid full Titanium rails offer lower weight and greater strength and are made from the same materials used by aerospace industries.
- Weight: 223gr
- MSRP: $199.99
Now available with Prologo’s exclusively Braided Carbon saddle rail technology, the insanely light and beautiful C.ONE Nack is designed for the sophisticated cyclist who prefers a traditional domed shape and requires the lightest possible equipment.
- Traditional domed profile creates a cantered platform appropriate for narrower sits bones while still supporting the muscles of the gluteus and hamstrings.
- Carbon Fiber High Modulus (HM) Base structure is constructed of multiple carbon fiber layers engineered to optimize strength, light weight and ride quality. Three HM T700 carbon layers are positioned with fibers at 45° (outer layers) and at 0° (internal layer) on the base, and four at the rail insertion point. The presence of the M30 carbon fibers at 0° improves the resistance to torque, allowing for more stability to the saddle.
- Braided Carbon Rail (BCR) is Prologo’s exclusive saddle rail design. Constructed of braided filaments of carbon and Kevlar reinforced with aluminum filaments in the clamp area, the BCR achieves extreme light weight without sacrificing durability.
- Weight: 87gr
- Use: Road
- MSRP: $419.99
