In today’s cycling news, Voigt plans to be back for 13th Tour de France, Gran Fondo comes to America, Powers and Bruno-Roy lead U.S. ‘cross standings, Cavendish atop Eurosport rankings and more. The news:

  • Luke Roberts (AUS) and Franco Marvulli (SUI) were victorious after the final day of the Six Days of Grenoble. Iljo Keisse and Gianni Meersman, who jumped into the lead after Monday’s round, ended up in third place. Jeff Vermeulen & Leon Van Bon were second.
  • Two-time French National Road Champion Nicolas Vogodny has signed a one year contract with the BBox Bouyges Telecom team. He was with the now defunct Agritubel squad.
  • CyclingNews.com has rolled out a special Colnago Channel on their site. Fans of the bikes and the competitors who ride them can get their fix at http://colnago.cyclingnews.com
  • Gran Fondo rides are finally making their way to America, and Colnago is sponsoring the Gran Fondo Colnago San Diego 2010, which will take place on March 7th. The ride will offer three different routes for cyclists of 160, 100 and 50 kilometers, and Paolo Bettini will make an appearance to add a little extra Italian flavor to the event.
  • Our nation’s capital could one day host the opening stage of the Giro d’Italia, race director Angelo Zomegnan said on Wednesday. The three-week race, traditionally all around Italy, will begin in Amsterdam next May and organisers are looking even further afield for future starting points. “For a while we’ve had in mind the idea of starting the Giro in America. Now, there is concrete interest from Washington,” Zomegnan told Gazzetta dello Sport, whose publishers run the Giro.
  • With 26 of the 42 events on the calendar now in the books, Jeremy Powers and Maureen Bruno-Roy are currently sitting atop the elite men’s and women’s cyclocross standings with 294 and 200 points respectively.
  • After taking a year off from the event, Samuel Sanchez plans a return to the Tour de France next year, and will be aiming for a stage win and a possible place on the podium.
  • Despite his spectacular crash in the Tour de France this year Jens Voigt is planning to be back for his 13th Tour de France in 2010. He says that he’s happy to be back on the bike without permanent injury. Saxo Bank will resume training at the end of November.
  • Michael Rasmussen & CDC-Knight are still at odds over his joining their team. The team maintains that he signed a contract in front of witnesses, while Rasmussen thinks that he signed a “pre-contract”, not a formal contract.
  • France’s Eurosport magazine named Mark Cavendish their rider of the year over Alberto Contador. While Contador won the biggest race of the year, they applaud Cavendish for continuing to race and win all the way till the end of the season.
  • Former U.S. Criterium champion Rahsaan Bahati will leave Rock Racing at season’s end to form his own team. The 27-year-old sprinter will headline the roster for the newly formed Bahati Foundation Pro Cycling Team, which will operate with a UCI continental team license.
  • Lars Boom is taking a break from ‘cross season in Curacao for the Amstel Curaçao Race. He is planning on Flanders and Paris-Roubaix next year, but is also looking for a chance to ride the Tour de France.
