November 4th, 2009 by Ron Callahan View Comments

Think we’ve done a lot on Interbike? We’re just getting started!

Today’s dispatch is about Louis Garneau. Louis Garneau has a ton of new equipment coming for 2010. We took a look at the new Quartz helmet, the Carbon HRS shoe and the new Equipe bib and jersey combo.

Louis Garneau’s Quartz helmet:

First up is the new Quartz helmet, which will debut in 2010. Use of their MSB (monocoque structural base) technology allows the helmet to be strong while still allowing large vents for airflow. Moisture channels are designed to let the air in the front of the helmet flow through the helmet and exit at the back to efficiently keep the head cool.

The Spiderlock Elite retention system allows for easy, one hand adjustment and the angle of the helmet can also be tuned to suit the rider. The helmet comes with a matching, detachable visor and ergonomic padding.

It will be available in April 2010 and will be priced at $140.

Louis Garneau’s Carbon HRS Shoe:

The Carbon HRS shoe is a “blank sheet” design from the Canadian company. It was designed to provide the perfect balance between performance and comfort.

The Carbon EXO Jet outsole is designed to increase stiffness and provide excellent toe-to-heel airflow, while the power plate creates a perfect power platform as close as possible to the pedal.

A micro ratchet upper strap with fully adjustable padding provides improved adjustment and fit options, while a large arch support gives a stable platform to minimise arch flex. Both the toe box and the heel are heat moldable and combined with the Carbon HRS’ kevlar reinforced straps and silicon inserts around the heel, this shoe is going nowhere in even your most powerful sprint.

Availability and price have yet to be determined.

Louis Garneau’s Equipe Kit:

Last but not least is Louis Garneau’s Equipe kit. This combination of bib shorts and jersey are designed to work together as a system and are fully customizable for teams and clubs.

equipebib

The Equipe bib shorts have an eight panel cut with flatlock stitching. They’ve been designed to not have a seam inside the leg to reduce friction in that sensitive area. Lycra® Power™ fabric is utilized for muscle compression.

Other features include an MP3/radio pocket, reflective logos on the back for better visibility and LG’s Airgel chamois.

equipejersey

The Equipe jersey is made with LG’s Diamond-Square fabric, which improves its breathability and the wicking of moisture. It dries quickly and provides UPF 50 sun protection. The jersey features a full-length zip for maximum ventilation and easy on and off. The jersey has a pro cut and has elastic at the hem for a better fit.

The Equipe kit is available now. The bibs sell for $149 and the jersey in $89.
