UCI grants permanent authorization to Caracalla’s historic circuit race

November 6th, 2009 by Ron Callahan View Comments

Yesterday, the UCI Road Commission granted a permanent authorization to the Velo Club Primavera Ciclistica to develop its “Gran Premio della Liberazione”. The race will celebrate its 65th anniversary on 25th April 25th, 2010 on its historical circuit along the Terme di Caracalla.

The standard UCI rule states that the route for circuit road races should be at least 12 kms long for each lap, while the G.P. Liberazione circuit is only 6.1 km long. This special authorization will let the race follow its traditional route.
