Tour de France 2009 Stage Seventeen

Yes, you read that correctly. Saxo Bank and Euskaltel-Euskadi are apparently trying to generate some excitement well in advance of the Grande Boucle.

Olympic champion Samuel Sánchez will lead the Euskaltel-Euskadi team of Egoi Martinez, Rubén Pérez, Gorka Verdugo and Amets Txurruka. Iñaki Isasi, Juanjo Oroz, Alan Pérez, Aitor Hernandez and Iban Velasco must fight for the remaining four spots. Romain Sicard, Koldo Fernandez de Larrea and Benat Intxausti have been identified as the reserve.

Saxo Bank team manager Bjarne Riis has selected 10 riders for the Tour de France. Andy Schleck, Fränk Schleck, Fabian Cancellara, Stuart O’Grady, Jens Voigt, Gustav Larsson, Matti Breschel, Jacob Fuglsang, Nicki Sorensen and Chris Anker Sørensen have been named as possibilities for the race.
