Lou’s News: Huh?

The boss sent along a press release for my perusal yesterday. The headline reads “Avid Cyclists Switch to Electric Bikes for Added Comfort and Performance”

Excuse me?

Why stop there? Why don’t you just switch to a golf cart? They’re zippy and they have a nice bench seat for your fat tushy.

The release talks about the satisfaction that many of us get from a bike ride: “…the gentle breeze sweeping past your face, the feel-good burn you get in your legs and, of course, the scenic journey that accompanies you with every rotation of the pedals.” and attempts to equate electric bikes, trikes, mopeds, scooters and motorcycles with the experience of riding a bicycle.

I’m old. I admit it. I don’t get around like I used to, but I still love to ride and there are plenty of options for me to keep enjoying my bike that don’t involve a motor or a third wheel.

Just my opinion. ‘Nuf said. Now go ride your (two-wheeled, human powered) bike.
