It’s On! Lance Armstrong to take on Chris Lieto
Lance Armstrong will take on Ironman champion Chris Lieto in a one-on-one time trial challenge on Hawaii’s Queen Kamehameha Highway at 9:30 tomorrow morning.
Lance has made no secret that he may return to triathlon competition after making his second retirement from cycling, so the showdown may provide a preview of things to come.
Lieto and Armstrong are both Trek-sponsored riders and Lieto participated in Armstrong’s Mellow Johnny’s Classic last year.
The challenge came about when Armstrong and Lieto crossed paths on their respective training rides today. Lieto apparently proposed a swimming competition in conjunction with with the TT, but that was shot down by Armstrong, saying that he would need approval from Johan Bruyneel for that.
When and if the outcome is posted, we’ll have the results here.
