2010 Giro di Sardegna: Stage 3 Results
Today’s stage covered 206 km from Nuoro to Oristano on the coast. While generally flat, there was an overall descent back to sea-level from the higher elevations inland.
A five-rider break that included Michael Rasmussen (Miche) dominated the stage. Giairo Ermeti (De Rosa-Stac Plastic) and David Gutierrez (Footon-Servetto) were the last to be caught just six kliometres from the finish.
Fittingly for such a sprinter’s profile as today, Alessandro Petacchi (Lampre – Farnese Vini) took the finish sprint ahead of Enrico Rossi (Ceramica Flaminia) and Jacopo Guarnieri (Liquigas – Doimo) to create the second all Italian podium in three days.
Roman Kreuziger (Liquigas-Doimo), Chris Horner (RadioShack) and Thomas Voeckler (BBox Bouygues Telecom) finished together and remain at the top of the GC.
