Contador worried about sore thigh
Alberto Contador spent what he hoped would be a quiet night in the Hotel Mercure Blois. The double Tour winner went to bed worried after a crash just three kilometers from the finish line in Contres. “I’m worried about my left thigh. She’s solidly bruised. I got quite a hard blow.”
Contador drifted to the left side of the road with Heinrich Haussler and ended up in the ditch. He quickly received a replacement bike from a teammate and chased back up to the pack on the bumper of the Rabobank team car and was with the group by the 1 km mark, but the pain from the bruise was not immediately apparent.
Contador finished 17 seconds behind stage winner Greg Henderson and sits 25 second behind race leader Lars Boom.
We’ll know in a few hours if Alberto starts Stage 2.
