Danish Talent Signs With Saxo Bank – SunGard
Saxo Bank-SunGard has signed a one-year contract for 2011 with the Danish all round talent, Mads Christensen. The 26 year-old has been riding for Glud & Marstrand LRØ Rådgivning(Denmark) but began his professional career at Quick Step back in 2005. In 2004, he conquered a U23 world championship bronze medal in Verona, Italy and in the same season he finished second in the U23 edition of the classic, Liege-Bastogne-Liege. Now, he is on his way back to the top more motivated than ever:
“I’m aware that signing with Saxo Bank-SunGard is a huge opportunity for me. Since my time with Quick Step I’ve been working hard determined to achieve this great chance with the Team where I can get the right guidance to take my level to the highest point. To become a member of Saxo Bank-SunGard is a personal victory for me,” says the talented Dane.
Team owner Bjarne Riis is happy to sign with another Danish talent:
“I’m looking so much forward to working with Mads. There’s no doubt that he’s having a special talent just waiting to be developed. He had a glorious career as a U23 cyclist and naturally I’ll seize this great opportunity to bring his abilities up to the highest level,” says Riis.
