February 26th, 2011 by Ron Callahan No Comment

Good news for the today as co-chairman Rick Schaden today announced a $10 million dollar investment to support the growth of the race. Recent news of layoffs at Quiznos raised questions about the future of the race.

The Quizno’s Pro Challenge is scheduled for August 22-28.

“This investment further demonstrates our commitment to the future of the Quiznos Pro Challenge,” said Schaden.  “Showing financial stability demonstrates the event’s ability for longevity in the international sports arena for many years to come.”

In addition to being co-chair of the race, Schaden is the founder and chairman of Consumer Capital Partners, a private investment, concept/brand development, and strategic advisory firm headquartered in Denver.  He is also the founder and majority shareholder of Quiznos and other recognized consumer businesses.  He is credited for taking the vision of legend and former Governor Bill Ritter and creating a world-class professional event here in the USA on the level of the Tour de France.

“Financial backing of this magnitude demonstrates the level of seriousness our founders are giving this race,” said Shawn Hunter, co-chairman of the Quiznos Pro Challenge.  “This announcement makes the statement that the Quiznos Pro Challenge has the potential to be one of the biggest professional cycling events in the world.”
