Bike Press Camp: New helmets from Cannondale

August 22nd, 2011 by Ron Callahan No Comment

If  you’ve come into cycling in the past 10 years or so, you likely know for their bikes, but it was not that long ago that was, like , heavily into accessories as well. As such, I wasn’t all that surprised to see Cannondale bringing out an all new line of helmets at .

The helmets, expected to come on the market no later than September, include models for both road and MTB.

For road , Cannondale’s top of the line model is the Teramo ($109). The Teramo uses dual-density EPS foam to reduce weight while maintaining the highest industry protection standards (CPSC, CE EN1078 and AS/NZ 2063). An SI alloy exoskeleton cage acts like an internal roll cage; the combination reinforces vent bridges for best in class safety and ventilation. The roll cage adds strength while allowing for 23 flow-through vents that control heat by maintaining air flow through the helmet.

Multi-molding polycarbonate shell bonds the outer shell with the EPS for a one-piece integrated design, and a occipital pad adjustment system with micro dial adjustment ensures that you’ll have the best fit every time.

The Cannondale Radius

If your riding is more recreational or urban, the Radius ($60) or Quick ($40) may be the thing for you.

The Radius uses single density EPS foam while using the same fit system as the Teramo. The SI roll cage allows for more vents than the average recreational helmet and keep sweat under control.

The Cannondale Quick

The Quick carries the same fit system while stepping down to a single-mold polycarbonate shell. There are an admirable 19 vents to keep you cool even at lower city speeds.
