Freire to lead Katusha in Tour Down Under (AP)

Three-time world champion Oscar Freire will lead the Russian-registered Katusha team at January’s Tour Down Under, first leg of cycling’s 2012 ProTour.
Freier won road race world championships in 1999, 2001 and 2004 and is also a winner of four stages on the Tour de France.
The Team Katusa lineup will also include fellow Spaniard Xavier Florencio who finished seventh overall in the 2003 Tour Down Under and Giampaolo Caruso, who won stage five of the 2003 tour in South Australia state.
