January 25th, 2012 by Ron Callahan No Comment

Lampre-ISD was active on two fronts in January, making a showing at Down Under while the rest of the team trained in San Vincenzo. General Manager Giuseppe Saronni was able to observe both activities and commented on the start of 2012 season:

“As in the previous years, the season began very soon, I know in January we are already deeply involved in racing. The is in the World Tour circuit and I know it’s very important to try to obtain good results in . That’s why we took part in the with Petacchi as captain and a good team with His support. The goals were to obtain victories and World Tour points.

It’s correct to acknowledge that while we aimed to celebrate a victory and a good result in the overall standing, that goal was not achieved. Anyway, I’d like to point out that obtained a second place and third place, showing that his fitness is quite good fit and he is working with his teammates. The Lampre lead-out train is at its first races; I think the performances showed that things will be better in the next race.”

As for the training camp in San Vincenzo, Saronni commented: “Residence Riva degli Etruschi was a perfect place for the training camp – the hospitality was perfect, the weather was quite warm and the roads are very interesting for performing good training. The team worked in an effective way, training sessions were very intense and the riders were able to try out their new . I also observed that the morale of the cyclists is good and that is important, too. We’ll be back in San Vincenzo from 31 January to 7 February”.
