January 29th, 2012 by Ron Callahan No Comment

After some days spent in the area of Bergamo, where they will live throughout the whole season,  Coldeportes’ riders reached Torbole sul Garda (Trento, Italy) along with the staff on Friday January 27th.

The team arrived at Aktivhotel at around 19.30, and enjoyed dinner together while talking about their training camp program for the days to come. The Escarabajos will train in the Lake Garda area from through Friday February 3rd, when they will move to to take part to the GP Etruscan Coast, on February 4th.

Valerio Tebaldi explained the team’s first program for the day: “We’ll be starting at 10:00 for a four-hour ride along the Lake Garda. Hopefully, we will have good weather and conditions to make some good training and be ready when the racing season actually starts.

A highlight of ’ training camp will come on Monday January 30th, when the team will face the dreadful gradients of Punta de Venono, an incredibly hard climb (11% average gradient, peaking at 21%) that will come at the end of the 2012 ’s .

Good conditioning is not the only focus for next week: during seven days in Torbole, the whole team will have a valuable chance to get a better feel for each other, and improve their blend. Nevertheless, riders will need to give their best and impress the technical staff in order to win a nod for the season opening race.

“These places passed by Despi HAVING Several times, this is the first time I am actually enjoying Italy,”  Victor Hugo Pena stated. “..and I think this is a great area to train for the whole week. This training camp is going to be very important to us – as we need to start fast and make a good impression right away – but Also for Claudius, Valerius and the whole technical staff to really value you as our riders. The medical tests already showed these guys have got qualities, and they are willing to demonstrate it over and beyond this weekend.”
