VELOBerlin gears up for its second edition
After a successful debut last year, VELOBerlin will take place for the second time on March 24 and 25, 2012. VELOBerlin 2011 demonstrated that Berlin is an ideal location for this leading public exhibition on all things related to bicycles, new forms of urban mobility and bike tours. The organizers are currently preparing for the exhibition’s second edition, which will feature more exhibition space across seven halls located around the radio tower at the exhibition grounds in Berlin.
Six weeks before the exhibition opens, 135 internationally renowned exhibitors have already signed up to attend VELOBerlin, making it the industry’s top show at the start of the 2012 cycling season. In order to accommodate the wide variety of bicycles available, this year VELOBerlin will be offering visitors several test tracks for sport and city bikes, as well as e-bikes and specialized bicycles. Weather permitting, attendees will also be able to test bicycles in the generous outdoor area around the radio tower.
“This co-production by the Friedrichshafen-based event EUROBIKE and Berlin’s center for cycling expertise Velokonzept features a comprehensive selection, making it an attractive event for cycling enthusiasts,” says Messe Friedrichshafen CEO Klaus Wellmann. “The bicycle industry has long expressed its desire for an event at the beginning of the season that is tailored to the needs of consumers to complement the EUROBIKE trade show for bicycle retailers in late August.” With 3.5 million inhabitants, a healthy cycling culture and one of the highest rates of bicycle use among cities, Berlin is an ideal location for the exhibition.
VELOBerlin is also an additional important strategic element for the exhibition team in Friedrichshafen, offering a high degree of press coverage and a strong attendance by cycling enthusiasts from throughout northern and eastern Germany at the beginning of the cycling season.
