The promising young cyclist Tim Wellens has signed a professional contract for two and a half years with the Lotto Belisol team, they announced on Wednesday.
The 21-year-old Wellens, who excels in the mountains, will make his debut as a professional in the Tour of Poland (10-16 July).
“In the beginning of the season it was already clear that I would make the transition to the pros this year. I have six months to mature to the promises, but I certainly think it is not too early,” said Wellens. “The next six months will be an ideal school. I’m curious to experience the level first hand.”
“…Tim has talent, a good mentality and can easily adapt to new circumstances,” said Kurt Van de Wouwer, team leader at Lotto Belisol.
