Lauren Tamayo, Sarah hammer, Dotsie Bausch, and Jennie Reed achieved a huge goal on the boards of the London Olympic Velodrome: silver.
Competition began yesterday with the first round of the Women’s Team Pursuit. Team USA rode the second fastest time of the evening behind a world record setting ride by the Team GB. They faced Australia in today’s rounds and needed to beat them to secure the gold medal round. Australia were ahead for most of the ride, but USA scrapped back and with an amazing final lap pull by Sarah Hummer to put them in gold medal contention. Then the final, GB rode a blistering pace from the start, scoring another world record. Therefore, Team USA secured silver.
ExergyTWENTY12 teammates have missed Lauren for a large part of the year. Lauren has dedicated this year to team pursuit and it paid off. Truly a team effort on and off the bike. Thank you USA Cycling, Jim Miller, and Benjamin Sharp for dedicating the last two years to the women’s team pursuit program and to Mike Tamayo for flying all over the world in support of our teammate and his wife. Cari Higgins did no make the final team, but Cari was an amazing team member and was instrumental in the early team pursuit training camps. Thank you to Exergy Development group for understanding the needs of our specialist athletes in affording them latitude to pursue dreams.
