On the 7th of October 2012 Monaco’s port ‘Hercule’ will become the scene of celebration of the Pro Team Astana’s Alexander Vinokurov and his scintillating contribution to the world of road race cycling. The Olympic Gold champion of 2012 London games will compete in his ultimate race around Monaco’s harbour that will mark the end of his spectacular career. The event will gather the biggest international names in the sport as road race cycling legends such as Jan Ullrich, Eddy Merckx and Laurent Jalabert will challenge Vinokurov to his final victory.
The event attended by the members of Monaco government will be highlighted by the international media titles including: UCI, ASO, France direct, News international, Eurosport and Radio en direct that will be transmitting the live event.
The race is open to general public and many fans of Vinokurov will be in attendance to see the culmination of his career. The dedicated grand stand area along the track is set up for the members of press and VIP guests. A large screen is set up in the port ‘Hercule’ where cycling enthusiasts can watch the race live and immerse themselves in the electric atmosphere of the event.
The event will open at 2pm with the amateur race, where budding road race cyclists will compete on the 40 lap long track spanning 45 km. The professional race will commence at 3pm featuring the sports elite reuniting in honour of Vinokurov to perform 50 laps of the track. The event will culminate in the awards ceremony.
Later, the guests will be welcomed at Fairmont Monte Carlo hotel for a Gala dinner and a celebration of Vinokurov’s memorable sports legacy.
