USA Cycling Unveils Its 2013 National Championships Calendar

USA Cycling on Friday unveiled its 2013 national championship calendar, highlighted by several new locations for events.

“We are excited about all of our ships venues,” Vice President of National Events Micah Rice said. “Our new locations in , Pennsylvania and North Carolina have really stepped up and we’re ing forward to great events for our members. What’s also exciting is that our relationships with our existing venues continue to get stronger and those events will continue to grow.”

include professional women riders. The professional will also join the professional men at the USA Cycling Professional Criterium ships in High Point, N.C., on July 27.

USA Cycling’s mountain bike ships span the gamut of the country’s most picturesque locales. From June 15-16, the nation’s premiere endurance riders will contest the USA Cycling 24-Hour Mountain Bike ships in Gallup, N.M. On July 6, Sun Valley, Idaho, will host the USA Cycling Marathon Mountain Bike ships. The USA Cycling Cross-Country Mountain Bike ships spanning July 18-21 are slated for an eastern location as they will be at the Bear Creek Resort in Pennsylvania. From Aug. 2-4, the USA Cycling Mountain Bike ships are scheduled to take place at the Angel Fire Resort in New Mexico.

For the first time, the BMX ships will be split into two events. The USA Cycling Elite BMX ships will be on May 18 at the Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif., before the amateurs take to the track in Nashville on June 1 for the USA Cycling Amateur BMX ships.

Elite track cyclists will display their talent at a pair of events on each coast two weeks apart. The USA Cycling Elite Timed Track ships will span Aug. 9-11 at the Velo Sports Center in Carson, Calif., before that group competes in Rock Hill, S.C., from Aug. 22-24 at the USA Cycling Elite Mass Start Track ships.

There is a pair of masters-only ships in 2013. The first spans July 30-Aug. 4 when the nation’s top 35-and-over riders ply their trade at the Major Taylor in Indianapolis, Ind., for the USA Cycling Masters Track ships. From Sept. 4-8, the country’s top masters road cyclists will toe the line in Bend, Ore., for the USA Cycling Masters Road ships.

The lone juniors-only ships on the calendar, the USA Cycling Juniors Track ships, will be July 25-28 in , Pa.

The calendar also includes three collegiate-only ships. From May 3-5, the nation’s top collegiate road cyclists will descend on Ogden, , for the USA Cycling Collegiate Road ships. The 2013 calendar year concludes with a pair of collegiate events. From Sept. 19-21, the top collegiate track cyclists will be in Colorado for the USA Cycling Collegiate Track ships. That event will be followed a month later by the USA Cycling Collegiate Mountain Bike ships from Oct. 25-27 in Banner Elk, N.C.
