The countdown towards the World Championships dream has started: six months and 21 days before the UCI Road World Championships Toscana2013, the most important sports event happening in Italy and in the whole world in 2013.
On the roads ridden by the greatest champions like Gino Bartali, Fiorenzo Magni, Alfredo Martini, Gastone Nencini and Franco Ballerini, in September there will be over one million five hundred thousand spectators, including 7,000 accredited people, among which 1,500 journalists, 250 connected broadcasters from 180 different countries and over 90 represented countries: astonishing numbers.
The first symbolic race towards Toscana2013 is starting from BiCiFi – Florence Bike Festival – the great event taking place from 1st to 3rd March in Fortezza da Basso, the evocative stage of the city, that will gather hundreds of fans and amateurs of the two wheels.
Among the many stands of the festival, a prominent place is reserved for the area dedicated to Toscana2013. Here visitors can pick up the program of all the World Championships races.
Athletes hunting for titles are passing from Florence, Lucca, Pistoia, Montecatini Terme and Fiesole; for this reason in the area of the “World Championships” set in BiCiFi, there is also an exhibition area dedicated to the five towns that from 22nd to 29th September are going to be the heart of the two wheels world. On the opposite side of the stand, whose green arrangement is furnished by Giorgio Tesi Group, a group of nurseries in Pistoia, UCI Road World Championships Italian Partner, visitors can also have a virtual view of the routes leading to the title. Everybody has the opportunity to ride on five lanes, characterized by the World Championships colors, by facing five screens that are displaying the images of the routes. One of the five lanes is dedicated to the many famous guests who will attend the stand of Toscana2013.
Finally it’s important to mention that, among the various activities organized by BiCiFi, the first edition of the “Granfondo Firenze De Rosa”, scheduled for march 2nd, is an extraordinary opportunity for the participants who have the honor of riding on the roads that next September 2013 is hosting the “made in Tuscany” World Championships.
