Team Saxo-Tinkoff’s delegation in Tour de Suisse was challenged with a prologue over 8.1 kilometers in the town of Quinto where Orica-GrenEdge’s Cameron Meyer was sitting comfortably in the hot seat as the leading rider while Team Saxo-Tinkoff’s Matteo Tosatto remained the fastest rider on the first intermediate time check.
Not even home turf favourite, Fabian Cancellara (Radioshack) was able to match the time of Cameron Meyer and the Australian won the prologue while Team Saxo-Tinkoff’s Italian veteran, Matteo Tosatto finished tenth:
”It was a somewhat strange day and an atypical stage result but the wind very sudden changed direction halfway through the stage but we’re happy about getting in between the best ten riders today. However, the GC will probably be turned upside down already tomorrow as the stage is concluded with an uphill finish on Crans Montana but we’re up for it. Roman (Kreuziger) is feeling strong and we’re targeting a top result overall,” said Team Saxo-Tinkoff DS, Fabrizio Guidi after the stage.
