Papendel event last race before BMX Supercross World Championships

After (GBR) and Santiago Del Estero (ARG), the UCI World Cup continues this weekend in Papendal, the .

The athletes are back on a track that they already know very well and that will host the World Championships next season. A little more than a month after the South American round, the Dutch event will be an opportunity to check out who is in good shape just 40 days before the in Auckland.

Men: must hang on

Double winner in Argentina (time trial and Supercross), the American is currently in charge of the World Cup. But the men in the Dutch national selection, in particular Jelle Van Gorkom and Raymon Van Der Biezen are dreaming of pulling off a major feat in front of their own public. Author of the double in 2011 – World Cup and World Championships – (FRA) arrives in Papendal with high ambitions. With 365 points in the overall rankings, he remains sharp behind Fields and could well take the lead if the American makes a slip.

Women: Reade’s throne much sought-after

Britain’s ’s domination was total at the beginning of the season with victories in and Santiago Del Estero. In both the time trials and the Supercross, nobody was able to rival her and she logically has a large advantage of 200 points over the American . In the absence of the British rider, who recently injured her knee, Crain will need to put in a very good performance if she wants to take over the leader’s jersey. If she finishes in the top four of the final, she will be the new leader going into the final round in (USA) at the end of September.

Deprived of victories in the last few weeks, the Colombian , second in both events in South America, and the French athlete Magalie Pottier (World Champion) could benefit from Reade’s absence to taste victory this weekend. The same goes for Laura Smulders, who will be racing in front of her own public. Although Reade dominated the first part of the season, the continuation promises to be gripping !
