The Chris Thater Memorial is dedicated in memory of Chris Thater, an avid cyclist, who was killed by a drunk driver, and is a project of the Broome County STOP-DWI Program to heighten awareness about the drunk-driving problem. The race attracts over 1,500 participants from local athletes to world-class competitors with crowds of over 10,000 spectators.
