Plenty to do in Mountain Bike Capital USA™ this summer

After last summer’s excellent experience mountain biking in Winter Park and Fraser County, the region is tempting me to come back with their newest listing of summer bike events in Mountain Bike Capital USA™.

2015 Epic Singletrack Series: June 13-Aug. 22
This epic cross-country rac­ing series is the largest cross-country race series in Colorado. Six different race categories challenge riders of all levels each Saturday June 13, July 11, July 25, Aug. 8 and Aug. 2nd. More details available at www.epicsingletrack.com.

Trestle Gravity Series 2015: July 5-Aug. 9
Amateurs and professionals do some serious downhill biking at the Trestle Gravity Series, featuring six races: July 5 (Downhill), July 23 (Air Downhill), July 24 (Super D), July 26 (USAC State Championship Downhill), and Aug. 9(Two Run Downhill).

Freeride Fridays at Winter Park Resort: June 19-Sept. 4
Freeride Fridays mean extended hours and special deals/discounts on Fridays during the summer at Trestle Bike Park, the fastest-growing bike park in North America.

She MTB Women’s Mountain Biking Clinic: June 27, July 18, Aug. 8
This is a ladies only event that allows women to learn more about riding mountain biking skills. The day wraps with wine and food tasting, all at Bike Granby Ranch. Registration required.

Gears & Beers Enduro Ride Series: June 28, July 12, July 26 and Aug. 23
Bike Granby Ranch hosts this fun, family friendly endurance series on June 28, July 12, July 26 and Aug. 23. Each series consists of an uphill trail followed by a downhill trail, a short cross-country loop, and a lift-served downhill trail. Cost is $39/race, which includes entry fee, lift ticket for day of event, one burger and one beer. Register at 888-850-4615.

Rendezvous Mountain Bike Capital USA™ Weekend: July 11-12
This 12+, all-levels event showcases all of the reasons that Winter Park is dubbed Mountain Bike Capital USA™. It features free live music by Rob Drabkin at Hideaway Park from 1-4 p.m., a weekend full of mountain biking skills camps, a “Tour de Bike” activity with participating restaurant happy hour discounts, and the Rendezvous Epic Singletrack race. Trek Dirt Series Mountain Bike Camp: July 18-19
Trestle Bike Park hosts this skills-development camp that features information and a full spectrum of rides. The camp includes one complimentary lift ticket per participant, and a discounted lift ticket for those who choose to ride the lifts both days.

8th Annual Women, Wheels & Wine – July 19th
This event at Devil’s Thumb Ranch Resort & Spa includes professional instruction, lectures and on-the-trail training. Lunch, wine, yoga and use of the pool, hot tub, sauna and steam room are also included. Bike gear and prizes will be raffled off. Register in advance.

Colorado Freeride Festival: July 23-26
Rub handlebars with the world’s best mountain bikers at this event at Winter Park Resort’s Trestle Bike Park. Spectators can watch the champs battle it out in slopestyle, Enduro World Series racing, air downhill, cross-country and pond crossing events.

Family Bike Fest: July 25
Part of the Colorado Freeride Festival, this event features a Strider Bike Adventure Zone for little riders (five and under), a modular pump track for the bigger kids (6-12), a bike parade and decoration contest, free face painting, giveaways and raffles.
