When the CAS completed their appeal hearing with Floyd Landis on March 24th, the word on the the street was that they would announce their decision no earlier than June 19th - tomorrow. By muy count, that works out to about 60 days to discuss the appeal and write up a ruling.
Floyd was scheduled to appear at the National Ultra Endurance Series Lumberjack 100 race this past weekend, but ending up being a no show. Some were theorizing that he may have re-injured his hip at the last event (the Mohican 100), but I’m going to go out on a limb and theorize that he was at home training for the Tour de France.
Think about it. If the decision would come down in his favor tomorrow, there’s a good possibility that a team would pick him up and he could start at the Tour in two and a half weeks. Controversy aside, I’m sure that there are teams that would like to have him.
The Mohican 100 was on May 31st. If Landis started road training on June 1st, he could possibly get ready in time. Alberto Contador was sitting on the beach when his Astana team got the last minute invite to the Giro, and he went on to win.
I’ll admit to dreaming, and I’m probably full of sh**, but wouldn’t it be cool to see Landis riding the TdF this summer?
