Here’s the latest headlines:
- Okay, I like Chris Horner and think he’s a good racer, but does he really need to sit and home healing a broken collarbone and bitch about not being selected for the Olympics? He thinks that Jason McCartney is not a smart choice. Maybe if he had been selected he would have skipped Elk Grove and not had his crash, but what if he hadn’t? Same result – still sitting at home on the couch.
- Emanuele Sella confessed to using EPO in his hearing before the Italian Olympic Committee. At least some racers are owning up to their doping.
- Are you using Look Keo pedals? There has been a recall of select models. If you have one of the offending models, you can take your pedals to select dealers to have the axles replaced.
- The Malvern Star brand is back in Australia. The company was founded in 1898 in a Sydney suburb, and their bikes have been ridden by countless Aussie champs.
- Jim Ochowicz is predicting a lot of medals for US Cycling at this year’s Olympics. The road team of Levi Leipheimer, George Hincapie, Christian Vande Velde, Dave Zabriskie and Jason McCartney is probably our strongest ever.
- Michael Albasini of the Swiss team crashed while training in Beijing and will not be racing.
- Tom Boonen has reportedly “felt the pain” of his cocaine bust emotionally and now financially.
- Trek is testing out a vending machine for bike parts on a popular bike path in the exceptionally bike friendly Madison, Wisconsin. It is stocked with popular repair items such as tubes, patches and CO2 cartridges and also dispenses energy bars and cold drinks.
