Racing News

It’s a sunny day here at BWN HQ and in the rest of America, too. Take that however you like. Here’s the news:

  • Quick Step has been the most winning team over the last five years. CSC and Columbia/T-Mobile were second and third. (Sport.be)
  • Several outlets are reporting that Leonardo Piepoli has requested that his B-sample from the Tour de France be tested.
  • As expected, Eric Boyer has stepped down as the chairman of the AIGCP.
  • We reported a couple of days ago that German broadcasters ARD and ZDF were being held to their licensing contracts with the ASO, but it’s now been clarified that they actually have to broadcast the race, or face lawsuits from those that are paying fees to them. (Velo News)
  • Paolo Bettini is out of the hospital and will decide tonight if he wants to continue in the Milan Six Day. He has pain in his neck and back, but feels good otherwise. (Gazetta dello Sport)
  • Lance Armstrong asks, “Who the hell is Linus Gerdemann?” (Cycling News)
  • Initial tests show that Tom Boonen used cocaine over a several month period and then stopped abruptly. This is in contrast to his claim that it was a one time incident and the suspicsion that someone may have spiked his drink. (sportwereld.be)
