Here are today’s headlines:
- Rik Verbrugghhe has returned to the Quick Step team, but is coming back as directeur sportif. (Sportwereld.be)
- Sven Nys won at the Houtland Cross in the West Belgium town of Eernegem on Saturday. American Jonathon Page came in 5th.
- One time Lance Armstrong rival Filippo Simeoni does not recognize Lance’s comeback. “A big champion must know when enough is enough.” For more, see the larger article here.
- Meanwhile, Gilberto Simoni has set Armstrong as his man to beat in the Giro. “Armstrong is a talent, but I’m going to do everything the thumbscrews on him…,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport
- And then he rested…. Paolo Bettini and Juan Llaneras have won the Six Days of Milan. (Gazzetta dello Sport)
- Never an organization to be meek, Rock Racing is confident that they will receive an invitation to the 2009 Giro d’Italia. The team recently chose to renew their racing license at the UCI Continental level for 2009, after having expressed interest in moving up a level earlier in the year. (Cyclis Mag)
