- During the warmup for the Tour of Qatar time trial, a “piece of iron” was flipped up by a car and caught Tom Boonen in the shin. He had a nasty welt, but was able to continue and lead the Quick Step team to second place in the stage. (Sportwereld.be)
- The German National Anti Doping Agency (NADA) published an updated list of allowable drugs. The list contains medicines in Germany (and their commercial names) which do not contain substances that appear on the prohibited list of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and therefore can be used for certain diseases. - Nick Nuyens (Cofidis) took an early exit from the Tour of Qatar as he received news from his wife that she was heading to the hospital to give birth to their first child. (Sportwereld.be)
- Danny Stam and Peter Schep hold on to the lead after the 4th day of the Six Days of Copenhagen.
- Mark Cavendish says “I am the fastest in the world” and defies Tom Boonen to challenge him. (La Derniere Huere)
- Daniele Bennati has renewed with Liquigas through the end of 2010. Bennati will make his season debut at the Volta Ciclista a Mallorca. (Tuttobici)
- Alberto Contador is headed to California for a pre-Tour of California training camp. Contador will train with the team and then head to Portugal’s Tour of the Algrave before before racing Paris-Nice, the Vuelta al Castilla y León and the Vuelta al País Vasco. Lance Armstrong will be doing the Tour of California with defending race champion Levi Leipheimer. (Velo News)
