For his winning ride into Paris in yesterday’s Tour de France, Alberto Contador got some new yellow toys from his sponsors.

First up were some special Look Keo2 Max pedals:

We had a little feature on these pedals before the start of the race. Alberto rode them for the entire Tour, but received the special edition yellow pedals on Sunday morning before heading to the Champs Elysee.

A total of six teams will be rode these at the race: Astana, Cofidis, Quick-Step, Team Katusha, Silence-Lotto and Agritubel.

The new LOOK KéO 2 MAX features:

  • Increased efficiency and comfort thanks to a more resistant INOX stainless steel contact surface area. The pedal platform is 12% larger with respect to the KéO Carbon.
  • Extremely light – 120g for Carbon and 125g for Composite.
  • Dual seals, a carbon injected pedal body, INOX stainless steel contact surface, and an oversize axle make this pedal very reliable and durable.
  • KéO grip cleats provide walking confidence with built in rubber contacts.

Although Contador has been riding and winning with LOOK pedals for years, this partnership is the first official agreement between LOOK and the legendary cyclist.

Contador also received a special set of Sidi Genius 6.6 Carbon shoes:

As with the pedals, he wore the Genius 6.6 Carbon shoes throughout the entire race, but the special edition shoes were for Sunday only.

Sidi shoes have been part of 60 professional victories so far this season.
