Rabobank ProTour rider Bram de Groot to Race CrossVegas

Giant Bicycles and CrossVegas confirmed today the participation of Rabobank ProTour team member Bram de Groot for the annual cyclocross race held during Interbike. The Dutch rider’s appearance will mark the first ever by a Rabobank rider in a U.S cyclocross event.

The familiar orange and blue Rabobank team has been a dominating force in international cyclocross and fan favorites worldwide over the last decade The 35-year-old de Groot has been a member of the Rabobank team since turning pro in 1999 and has been a consistent figure in the success of the team as well as scoring consistent top finishes each season.

In addition to lining up at CrossVegas de Groot will be at the Giant Bicycle booth at Outdoor Demo on Tuesday to visit with dealers.

Commenting on de Groot’s appearance Giant Bicycles Global Product marketing Manager Andrew Justaitis said, “Giant is proud to field a top-tier ‘cross team at the most exciting cyclocross race of the season. The event should prove to be the perfect opportunity to race test our prototype ‘cross product in the environment for which it was designed- world class level competition.”

CrossVegas promoter Brook Watts commented, “I couldn’t be happier about announcing Bram’s participation. It shows how CrossVegas and U.S. cyclocross are attracting international attention.”

CrossVegas is the largest cyclocross race in the U.S. taking place Wednesday evening September 23 after the first day of the Interbike trade show in Las Vegas. Almost 10,000 fans converged on Desert Breeze Soccer Complex for the 2008 edition of the international race.
