Interbike Vendor Spotlight: MOA/Nalini
MOA Sports/Nalini is a proud sponsor of many well-known teams in the pro peloton, including Tinkoff, Credit Agricole, Cofidis, Caisse d’Epargne, LPR, La Francaise des Jeux, Barloworld, Coulbia-HTC and others. In addition, it manufactures and sells pro tour replicas for the teams it sponsors. MOA Sport/Nalini also develops NALINI COLLECTIONS for every-day riders – highly technical and fashionable gear, the result of constant research and study on fabrics and details. They came to Interbike with the goal of making more of a impact in the U.S. market with every-day riders. They are focusing their promotion on their extensive 100% Italian made fall & winter line.
Nalini-branded cycling apparel – as well as the newly launched MOA Sport brand – is characterized by outstanding quality, stylish designs and a rich range of products that assure it a great position in specialized and high-end markets. Both the Nalini and MOA Sport lines showcase unrivaled expertise in every production process, from the research on new fabrics and manufacturing processes, to the utmost care for design and style; from modeling and cutting, to technical and commercial assistance. The goal? A guarantee of high-quality apparel – the best answer to any customer’s request.
When I met with a Nalini representative, I was first shown the new Protego Man bib/jersey combo. The Olivo jersey and Vite bib are designed to work together as a system. The Olivo jersey has a very “pro” fit and features a full zipper, silicone grippers at the bottom hem and breathable mesh in the shoulders. The Vite bib shorts offer a compression fit for the legs, breathable mesh along the back and anti-abrasive cloth in the seat. Both pieces of apparel feature fabrics designed to quickly move perspiration away from the body as well as reflective accents for safety.
What makes the Protego system truly unique is the special wash treatment that features nano technology to deliver nutrients from the clothing, directly into the body through the skin. Studies indicated that wearing garments with Protego provided improved cycling performance as well as better comfort, better muscle tone and a decreased need to consume fluids.
Next up was a pair of bib shorts for women. The Spina bib takes a hint from Assos and moves the front straps from the side, where some women find them irritating, to the middle. The Rondine goes one step farther and gives the center strap three adjustment positions to allow the wearer to customize their fit. The strap also releases completely to ease getting the shorts down at bathroom time. As with the men’s bibs, compression fabric is the order of the day and they feature the same anti-abrasive fabric, reflective accents, leg grippers and more.
Finally, there was the Palombo jacket, which is new to Nalini’s winter line. A unisex, stretchable
winter jacket designed for very cold temps (15-43F), the Palombo is crafted from Nalini’s advanced Mantovent and Vuelta/Lycra fabrics. The result is an outer garment that delivers a tight-yet-comfortable fit, wind protection, moisture resistance, and warmth, in part due to its internal inner vest. Other key features include soft-pile collar, zippered rear pocket, and reflective bands. The Nalini Palombo is the only winter jacket a serious cyclist needs.
