Interbike Vendor Spotlight: Lake Shoes
I want to start off by saying that Lake deserves some immediate props for offering shoes in widths (I may have mentioned here before that I have feet like Fred Flintstone). Lake was featuring three new shoes that are coming for 2010.
While not all new, the top end is ruled by the CX401. The CX401 is the first customizable cycling shoe featuring a carbon fiber sole with Lake’s proprietary power transfer system and individually moldable heel counter. The custom fit produces zero wasted movement, sending all power to the pedals and bike. The 2010 model adds a Lake logo strap across the top of the foot for those all important finish line sprint shots. The upper is made with Klite kangaroo leather and mesh, while the heel and tongue liner include Outlast temperature regulating fabric.
The outsole is made of a custom-fittable carbon fiber material and the men’s shoes are available in either a 3-hole or Speedplay specific cleat pattern for use without adapters. It also includes an all-new easier to use push/pull Boa lacing system. The CX401 is used (among other) Tyler Farrar, Carlos Sastre, Gert Steegmans, and Greg Van Avermaet.
- Sizes: Men’s regular & wide (EE) – 39-48; 50, 39.5-46.5. Women’s 36-43, 37.5-42.5
- Colors: Pearl black/Red, Pearl White/Red (Men’s wide available in Pearl White/Red 3-hole only).
- Weight: 270g (size 42)
- MSRP: $489.99
The 2010 Lake CX330C offers many of the features of the CX401 (Klite Kangaroo leather, Outlast fabric, a 100% carbon fiber sole and a push/pull Boa closure system) into a shoe that can give pros and enthusiasts alike an edge over the competition.
- Sizes: Men’s regular & wide (EE) – 39-48; 50, 39.5-46.5. Women’s 36-43, 37.5-42.5
- Colors: Pearl black/Silver, Pearl White/Red (Men’s wide and women’s are available in Pearl White/Red only).
- Weight: 252g (size 42)

Finally, there’s the CX236. It comes with a full grain leather upper with a molded vented heel counter. The outsole is made from a 3K carbon fiber weave forming a solid, vented sole. Men’s sizes available in a 3-hole or Speedplay specific cleat pattern for use without adapters. The Boa closure is rear mounted for aerodynamics, with the lace wrapping around the heel cup with a full power zone option available in both zones. BOA provides easy in and out access and easy adjustment on the fly.
