XBox 360 Get Up Tour Comes to Los Angeles
Leading action sports event producer, ASA Entertainment (ASA), and Xbox 360® have partnered for a second consecutive year to support the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids through an interactive action sports circuit that has visited high schools across the country this fall, informing students about the dangers of smoking. During the final week of its 10-week circuit the Xbox 360® Get Up Tour (Tour) will stop in Los Angeles, CA, visiting Reseda High School on Monday, November 16, North Hollywood Senior High School on Tuesday, Huntington Park Senior High School on Wednesday, Los Angeles High School on Thursday, and Franklin Senior High School on Friday.
The Tour will present the important anti-tobacco cause message through announcements, trivia questions, brochures and the attention-grabbing performances. It will educate students about the dangers of tobacco use, the risks associated with second-hand smoke and ways to combat the pressure to start smoking. The Tour will invite students to Get Up, Get Smart, and Get the Word Out Today about the risks of smoking.
California natives Austin Coleman (Los Angeles, CA) and Gabe Weed (Walnut Creek, CA) will be showcasing their athletic skills during the high-flying, energy-filled performances, giving back to the communities in which they grew up. They will be joined by Marc Englehart (Lansdale, PA), Jay Eggleston (Denver, CO), and Elliot Sloan (New York, NY), performing thrilling BMX, skateboarding and inline skating tricks on a mobile half-pipe during on-campus assemblies.
On Thursday, November 19, the Xbox 360® Get Up Tour will coincide with the American Cancer Society’s 33rd annual Great American Smokeout, the nationally recognized platform to educate the public on the dangers associated with tobacco use and to encourage smokers to quit for a lifetime by starting with just one day. Decked out with materials from the American Cancer Society, Tour athletes will encourage the Los Angeles High School students to take the first step toward a healthier lifestyle by throwing away their cigarette packs – at least for the day – and wearing “Teens Kick Ash” t-shirts in support of the Great American Smokeout. The 2009 fall Xbox 360® Get Up Tour rounds out the 10-year anniversary of ASA’s commitment to the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, which has directly impacted more than 1,000,000 students. In celebration of its success, Tour producer ASA Entertainment and Xbox are conducting a “Photo of the Week” contest in each city. Photos of students participating in the Xbox 360® Get Up Tour event will be posted online at GetUpTour.com. One photo will be selected each week and posted in the “Xbox 360® Photo of the Week” online gallery. The student featured in that photo will win an Xbox 360® console.
