The holiday wreath hanging from your door is green. The Christmas tree standing in your living room is green. The garland entwined on the banister? Green as well!  It seems like your holiday shopping should follow the trend.

Holiday shopping….If only it were as simple as choosing the right color! How about the right scent?

Indigo Wild is a “green” body care and home care company offering all-natural and eco-friendly products with over thirty “flavors” to choose from.  Based in Kansas City, its products are available online and at natural groceries like Whole Foods.

Indigo Wild has a product for nearly anyone on your list—from the girliest girl on a beach cruiser to the manliest mountain-biking man.  (Indigo Wild items also make great stocking stuffers, token gifts, and hostess gifts, too, at reasonable rates!)

A few products to choose from:

ZIP’S MUSCLE RUB Massage Balm

Zip’s Muscle Rub comes from Indigo Wild’s Natural Sport line called Zip’s, which includes products made from organic and natural ingredients. Mandy the Publicist promises, “You’ll have some Zip in your step while you soothe, smooth, waft, soak, relax, restore and clean your way to the finish line.  We’ve got everything a cyclist could ever ask for!”

2.5 oz.: $11.00

Trial size: .40 oz.: $1.50

Pros:

• The packaging is a cool and retro tin. Looks fun!
• The smell — citrus-menthol — is a refreshing “burn.”  Feels lovely on tired, sore muscles.
• The salve rubs in evenly and quickly while leaving skin and hands feeling moisturized.

Cons:

• Unless you live with a masseuse, you have to apply the muscle balm yourself.

ZUM BAR: All natural goats milk soap

Zum SoapBars contain all-natural goat milk as the base. Goat’s milk is naturally homogenized, and has a pH level that’s nearly identical to human skin.  As a result, Zum Bars won’t leave you feeling oily or dry, and the company uses 100% pure essential oils for natural aromatherapy. There are 31 varieties in all.

3 oz.: $5.50

Pros:

• The Sandalwood Citrus is absolutely yummy! The scent is neither masculine nor feminine and the whole bathroom smells like a high-end spa.
• Despite the high fragrance, skin feels super clean after showering.
• It’s a small luxury with a small price!
• The soaps look beautiful with wonderful colors, patterns, and textures.

Cons:

• While the soap smells delicious, this particular flavor was a bit “tingly” on body parts best left un-tingled!
• My sliver of sample did not last long enough…

Zum Body Shea Butter & Meadowfoam Seed Oil Lotion

Zum advertises, “When the skin gets tough, the tough get smooth…. Shea butter, meadowfoam seed oil, organic extracts of chamomile, ginseng, and a bunch of botanical extracts are the embodiment of natural skin conditioning.”

(I tried two flavors, the Frankincense and Myrrh and  the Lavender-Lemon.  There are at least four other scents to choose from.)

2 fl. oz.: $7.00

8 fl. oz.: $16.50

Pros:

• The lotion soaks in well and does not leave skin feeling greasy. You can apply the lotion and type at the same time, proof that hands won’t slip off the handlebars!
• The Frankincense & Myrrh is a perfect holiday fragrance!
• This lotion moisturizes dry skin quickly.

Cons:

• If you are looking for a lotion with a lingering fragrance, these are not for you.  They smell fabulous while you rub them in, but the scent dissipates quickly.  (This could be a pro!)
• It’s a personal response, but the lavender-lemon smelled a little “stale” to me.
• The price is a bit steep.
