While I do have a fixed gear bike, and I have been known to ride in on the street in my “semi-urban” neighborhood just outside of Cincinnati city limits, I have to confess that the whole urban fixie hipster thing sort of escapes me. I certainly appreciate the, for lack of a better term, pioneer spirit of the whole movement, but the whole thing smacks of trendiness. Not that I am immune to that.

Here are our pictures from Day 1 of the North American Handmade Bicycle Show. We were able to get pictures of about half of the show floor today, and will get the rest tomorrow. We’ll also be talking to some of the builders that are at the show.

Pre-registration numbers surpass Portland show
